Friday releases trends shifting to OTT.

 While the whole world struggle against the COVID-19 pandemic, Bollywood is making new ventures to stay connected with entertainment and give people new movies to enjoy. A recent announcement was made by Disney+ Hotstar with stars like Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, Alia Bhatt, Abhishek Bachchan, and Varun Dhawan for the direct release of movies on the digital platform. The films that will make a straightforward appearance to the app skipping the theatrical presence will be Sadak 2, Bhuj, The Big Bull, and Laxmmi Bomb. 

The films will be released between July and October, starting with later actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s Dil Bechara. The trend of release will begin from 24th July 2020, and to pay special tribute to Sushant Singh Rajput, Disney+ Hotstar has decided that the movie will be available to non-subscribers as well. 

The event started with Varun Dhawan, asking Alia about her new hairstyle and the hairstylist who cut it. Alia refused to reveal the name and also told Varun that she was learning guitar and doing meditation. In his light humor, Akshay Kumar commented that this the longest time he has been sitting at home, and in this, he and Varun’s father director David Dhawan could have made 2-3 films. Akshay showed care about how his fans must be missing seeing him on the big screen. He also discussed the merits of watching movies at home like time is no constraint and can munch the food of their choices. 

Ajay Devgn discussed the benefit of switching to OTT and how, during this pandemic, Bollywood realized that movies could be released on digital platforms.
